Mechanical Properties of Organic Alkali Metal and Ammonium Hydrophthalate Single Crystals
Abstract
The mechanical parameters characterizing the deformation and fracture of acid salts of orthophtalic acid (alkali metals and ammonium hydrophthalates) have been determined. It is shown that the mechanical properties of these crystals are considerably anisotropic and can be either deformed plastically, form kink bands, or undergo brittle fracture depending on the direction of the compression axis with respect to the cleavage plane.
