Polarization transfer in (p,n) reactions at 197 MeV.
Abstract
A complete set of polarization-transfer observables have been measured at 197 MeV in the quasifree region for (p,n) reactions on ^2H, ^3,4He, C, Ca, and Pb targets. Data were obtained at 13^circ, 24^circ, 37^circ, and 48^circ, which correspond to a momentum transfer range q = 0.75-2.3 fm-1. No major differences are observed in either the value of polarization-transfer observables or in the cm polarization observables among these targets. Empirical results for the ^2H target will be compared with Faddeev-type calculations. Derived spin-longitudinal and spin-transverse responses for Ca will be compared with reported results obtained at 346 and 494 MeV.
