Model Validation Using Experimental Watershed Data
Abstract
Experimental watersheds are an invaluable resource for model development and validation. These watersheds allow us to develop and evaluate hydrological models and test them in a variety of climates and ecosystems. Validation efforts of the Simultaneous Heat and Water (SHAW) Model are presented for a wide variety experimental locations. Measured data and modeled results from such differing experimental sites as Alaska, Idaho, Washington, Tucson and Minnesota are presented for hydrological processes including snowmelt, soil freezing, and evapotranspiration.
