Nuclear reaction studied by (vec{p},vec{p} ') reactions at 0°

We measured polarization transfer (PT) observables in ¹²C, ²⁸Si(p,p') reactions at 0° with 392 MeV proton beams. The obtained PT observables are compared with DWIA calculations. The strength of the isoscalar central spin-dependent interaction (V_σ) is found to be well described in the Franey and Love effective interaction. A model independent signature of spin transfer, named total spin transfer, is deduced from the measured PT observables for several discrete states.
