Observation of the Jahn-Teller Temperature Dependence on the Integral Intensity of the EPR Spectrum of LiGa5O8:Cu2+
Abstract
The paper deals with experimental investigations of the temperature dependence of the integral intensity of anisotropic and isotropic EPR spectra of Cu2+ ions in LiGa5O8 crystals in the temperature range T = 4.2 - 300 K. It is shown that the temperature dependence of the integral intensity of the isotropic spectrum is exponential. The effective activation energy value has been determined to be E = 10 cm-1. The separation of contributions from two mechanisms to the averaging of the spectrum is accomplished. One mechanism is associated with dynamic Jahn-Teller deformations. The other mechanism is associated with the distribution of static deformations caused by the non-uniformity of the crystal.
