Comparing XTE-1118+480 and Cyg-X1 using USA X-ray Power Spectra
Abstract
The Unconventional Stellar Aspect experiment, USA, has been observing XTEJ1118+480 a number of times per day since its outburst was reported by the RXTE ASM in April, 2000. Using the 1-19 keV X-ray data from USA the FFT power spectra of the X-ray nova XTE-1118+480 and black hole candidate Cyg-X1 are compared. In particular, we search for the relative behavior in high frequency variability and QPOs, and calculate the dynamic power spectra for both sources. Preliminary results indicate that the characteristic time scales for XTEJ1118 are about 10 times longer than seen in Cyg X-1.
