General thermal wavelength and its applications
Abstract
It is found that the thermal wavelength of the particles in any positive dimensionality with any positiveexponent energymomentum (i.e. dispersion) relation must be redefined. A new definition of the thermal wavelength is given, from which the thermodynamic properties of a free ideal system consisting of such particles may be expressed in a compact form similar to those for a threedimensional nonrelativistic ideal system with which we are all familiar. Moreover, some significant and novel characteristics of the general thermal wavelength redefined here are revealed.
