High-Spin States in ^203Rn
Abstract
The high-spin structure of ^203Rn has been investigated using two reactions. Gamma-gamma coincidences were measured for the ^174Yb(^34S,5n) reaction at 167 MeV using the YRAST Ball array at WNSL, Yale University. The ^168Er(^40Ar,5n) reaction at an energy of 188 MeV was also measured, at the Argonne National Laboratory. Here gamma-rays and conversion electrons were observed using the Gammasphere and ICE Ball arrays in coincidence with the FMA. Using these data, the level scheme of ^203Rn has been extended to higher spins and excitation energies. The high-spin decay is dominated by two sequences of gamma rays. The first, probably based on the νi_13/2 orbital, dominates at lower spins. The nature of the second sequence is currently unclear. Data analysis is continuing and results will be reported.
