Particle Alignments and High Spin States in ^76Kr
Abstract
Recent studies of the light krypton isotopes have attested to the richness in nuclear structure inherent in the A ~80 region, due to its position both between the major shell closures at N,Z=28,50 and near to the N=Z line. The present work concentrates on the neutron deficient nucleus ^76Kr, in particular the high spin states produced following the reaction ^58Ni(^28Si, 2α2p) at 130 MeV. The GAMMASPHERE array was used in conjunction with MICROBALL and, as a result, all previously known bands have been extended to higher spin and another positive parity band has been identified. The kinematic, J^(1), and dynamic, J^(2), moments of inertia have been calculated for all previously known bands and confirm suggestions [1] of proton and neutron alignments in the negative parity bands. These results are compared to CNSM calculations.
