Perseid Observing during the 1999 Total Solar Eclipse over Europe
Abstract
The last total solar eclipse of the millennium occurs on 1999 August 11 between about 10h1Om UT to 11h10m UT for land observers in Europe (Bell 1998). The timing of new Moon means overnight observing conditions fOf the Perseids at their maximum in 1999 will be near-perfect. However, there is a slim chance that one or mOre Perseids may be seen during the total eclipse itself.
