All-solid-state UV dye laser pumped by XeCl laser

The dye-doped silica slab was fabricated by the sol-gel method. Under transverse pumping by a XeCl laser, narrow (3 nm) laser oscillator from Exalite 376 (E376)-doped silica slab was achieved in an echelle resonator cavity. The laser output efficiency of the silica slab can be up to 4%. Dependence of the laser output energy on the number of pump shots was discussed.
