Supernovae 1999di and 1999dj
Abstract
T. Puckett and A. Langoussis, Mountain Town, GA, report the discovery of two apparent supernovae on unfiltered CCD frames taken with the Puckett Observatory 0.60-m automated supernova patrol telescope: SN 1999 UT R.A. (2000) Decl. Mag. Offset 1999di Aug. 8.38 1 59 54.86 +23 38 22.7 18.0 5".2 E, 17".0 S 1999dj Aug. 8.40 1 48 10.95 +35 23 47.2 17.8 1".5 W, 7".4 S The limiting magnitude of both discovery images was 20.0. SN 1999di in NGC 776 was confirmed on an image taken on Aug. 9.39 UT. The object does not appear on a second-generation Palomar Sky Survey (PSS II) plate (limiting magnitude 20.3) taken on 1991 Oct. 10 UT. SN 1999dj in UGC 1258 was confirmed on an image taken on Aug. 9.40 UT and does not appear on a PSS II plate (limiting magnitude 20.2) taken on 1989 Nov. 19.
