Double-barred starburst galaxies viewed by ISOCAM
Abstract
We present broad band 6.75 μm (LW2) and 15 μm (LW3) images that have been obtained with ISOCAM for two double-barred galaxies (NGC 1097 and NGC 4321) extracted from our global project WMFP15. These galaxies have both a large-scale stellar bar and a ~1 kpc scale nuclear bar surrounded by a circumnuclear ring. In the case of NGC 4321 both bars are aligned while they are misaligned in the case of NGC 1097. The comparison of their mid-infrared properties reveals that star formation is differently taking place in these objects.
