Nuclear recoil detection with microchannel plates
Abstract
Measurements of particle-recoil coincidences in low-energy nuclear reactions and decays are described. Alpha-particles and protons were detected using a silicon surface-barrier detector, while the corresponding heavy recoil nuclei were measured with a microchannel plate detector. The usefulness of this technique for investigations of interest to nuclear astrophysics is discussed.
