SAX Observation of the Peculiar Source 1822-371
Abstract
1822-371 is an eclipsing LMXB which shows evidence of an accretion disc corona (ADC). The source is seen at high inclination implying that the primary spectrum is seen scattered by the ADC. This source was previously observed by Ginga in the large band 2-30 keV. The fact that none of the tried models could fit the spectrum demonstrates the complexity of this spectrum. We fitted the spectrum in the energy range 0.1-100 keV from BeppoSAX with a multitemperature blackbody, a power-law with high energy cutoff and the reflection of this continuum. This model is in good agreement with the spectrum expected by an ADC source.
