This work was based on the experiment. The research on perception of modulation for single components in harmonic complex with 3, 5 and 9 partials was the main aim of experiment which was provided for three modulating frequencies (2, 70 and 200 Hz) and 3 kinds of modulation: AM, FM and MM. The experiment was done for 10 subjects and for mono- and binaural sound exposure. It turned out that two independent mechanisms of perception of modulation exist in dependence on modulating frequencies, and these mechanisms may cooperate under some specific conditions. Another conclusion of the work was that perception of modulation was based on the other two mechanisms: perception of pitch changes, and perception of perception of loudness changes. Results of experiments show that perception of this kind of changes does not depend on the number of components in investigated complexes, and only the weak statistical dependence of perception of modulation for single components of harmonic multitones on the level of sound exposure, has been noticed.
