Efficiency of the broadband RF cavity longitudinal kicker in DAΦNE
Abstract
Multibunch instabilities will be damped in DAΦNE main rings by a bunch-by-bunch feedback system using a longitudinal kicker to give the proper energy correction to each bunch. Stripline based kickers now in use have shown several HOMs with quite high shunt impedances that contribute to the total machine broad band impedance, and may cause significant heating of the electrodes. In this paper we investigate the impact on the beam dynamics of a new broad band RF cavity kicker loaded with waveguides that broaden the fundamental-mode bandwidth and damp the cavity HOMs.
