Synthetic color indices and interstellar reddening-free Q-parameters are calculated for a number of passbands in the vicinity of the Paschen jump using the Kurucz (1995) models as the radiation sources. It is shown that in some cases the Paschen jump can replace the Balmer jump for classification of B--A--F type stars in temperatures and gravities (or luminosities). However, the photometric effect of the Paschen jump is smaller by a factor of five in comparison with the Balmer jump. This gives somewhat lower accuracy of classification. However, the Paschen jump region may be preferable for stars affected by a considerable interstellar reddening, when they are too faint to be measured in the ultraviolet.
