It is well known that a PSTM-detected image sometimes does not represent the accurate topography of the sample. In this paper, we find that the reconstruction problem in PSTM can be solved by perturbation. Using this method, at the same time considering the relationship between the near-field light intensity and signals, we directly construct the interface topography through the detected signals using certain NFO techniques. We obtain a functional equation that can be solved by iteration, an exact solution for which (to the first order) is given. In order to illustrate the procedure used, we also give an example with results that satisfy the equation. One possible way to realize this method experimentally is proposed.
