Magnetotransport in SmB_6
Abstract
The electrical resistance of single crystal SmB6 was measured in the temperature range 1.4K<T<300K in zero and apllied fields. The zero field measurements showed residual condutivity for T<4K and activated behavior for 4K<T< 50K, with an energy gap in 50K -- 80K range. The resistance was also measured in the temperature range 37mK--4K, and in transverse magnetic fields up to 50 T. A negative magnetoresistance was observed indicative of the closing of the insulating gap. The analysis of the magnetic susceptibility data indicated Sm^3+ : Sm^2+ ratio close to 7 : 3.
