Using N-body simulations we have studied the formation of galaxies from dissipationless cosmological collapses under the influence of a tidal field in an expanding Universe. We have investigated the possibility of mixing between the material carrying positive angular momentum with the material carrying negative angular momentum. In some cases the mixing is only partial so that angular momentum of one sign dominates in the core of the galaxy while in the rest of the matter angular momentum of the opposite sign dominates. Thus a counter rotating galaxy can be formed directly from cosmological initial conditions. In other cases the mixing of the positive and negative angular momentum is more efficient along the radius of the pro togalaxy so that angular momentum of only one sign dominates everywhere.
