Two-photon production of f(J)(2220) and Lambda-Lambda-bar and QCD deconfinement phase transition on coarse lattices
Abstract
We use the CLEO detector at the Cornell e+e- storage ring, CESR, to search for the two-photon production of the glueball candidate fJ(2220) in its decay to KsKs. We present a restrictive upper limit on the product of the two-photon partial width and the KsKs branching fraction, (Γ/gammaγ[/cal B]K/sb[sKs])f/sb[J(2220)]. We use this limit to calculate a lower limit on the stickiness, which is a measure of the two-gluon coupling relative to the two-photon coupling. This limit on stickiness suggests that the fJ(2220) has substantial glueball content. Using the CLEO detector, we also study the two-photon production of Λbar/Lambda , making the first observation of γgamma/to/Lambda/bar/Lambda . We present the cross-section for γgamma/to/Lambda/bar/Lambda as a function of the γgamma center of mass energy and compare it to that predicted by the quark-diquark model. Finally, we compute the critical temperature Tc for the deconfinement transition of pure QCD on coarse lattices, with Nt=2, 3, 4, and lattice spacings from 0.34 fm to 0.16 fm. We employ a perturbatively improved gluon action designed to remove order a2 and αsa2 errors. We find that Tc in units of the charmonium 1P-1S splitting is independent of α to within approximately 5%.
