Three prong τ decays with charged kaons in the final state
Abstract
Recent results from the CLEO experiment on 3-prong τ decays containing a charged kaon are reported. From a direct search for τ- → h-ντ ( h- = π- or K-) we find model-dependent upper limits on the branching fractions in the range: B( τ- → π-ντ) < (1.2 - 2.0) × 10 -4 and B( τ- → K-ντ) < (5.4 - 6.7) × 10 -5 at 90% confidence level. We also report the preliminary results B( τ- → K-h+π-ν)/B( τ- → π-π+π-ν) = (4.66 ± 0.29 ± 0.81)% and B( τ- → K-h+π-ν)/B( τ- → h-h+h-ν) = (4.45 ± 0.29 ± 0.81)%.
