Numerical Computation of the ChernSimons diffusion rate in the SU(2) Higgs model
Abstract
We compute the diffusion rate near the phase transition for m _{H} ∼ m _{W} using Krasnitz's numerical implementation. The parameters in the effective Hamiltonian are matched with the results of Farakos et al. using dimensional reduction. In the symmetric phase the rate turns out to be roughly equal to the result in pure SU(2) gauge theory calculated by Ambjørn and Krasnitz. In the transition to the broken phase the rate reduces by a factor of about five and appears to be much larger than analytic expectations based on sphaleron calculations.
