Angular distribution of N 2 KVV Auger electrons induced by 1.5 and 2 MeV protons
Abstract
The angular distributions of the KVV Auger spectra of N 2 molecules induced by 1.5 and 2 MeV proton impact have been studied at 13 different angles from 0° to 180° relative to the ion beam. Besides the transition energies, line widths (FWHM) and relative intensities, the anisotropy parameters and the anisotropy coefficients of the Auger lines have also been determined. Strong indications have been found that the K-shell ionization cross section in homonuclear molecules may depend on the orientation of the molecular axis relative to the ion-beam direction.
