S-class Asteroids: The View from Three Microns
Abstract
A combination of the present 3-micron spectrophotometry with shorter-wavelength studies has allowed the construction of 0.3-3.5 micron spectra of the S-class asteroids. Attention is given to the nature of this asteroid class' alteration trends, which may be obtainable by extending the continuum beyond regions where Si absorption features intrude. If 'space weathering' altered spectra to resemble those of main-belt S-class asteroids, the weathering trend implied would increase 3-micron-region reflectance.
