Microwave Thermal Emission Mapping of the Stealth Region on Mars
Abstract
The Very Large Array has been used to interferometrically observe Mars in order to study the Stealth feature, west of the Tharsis ridge, from which no measurable echo can be detected. Stealth is interpreted as a medium free of rocks and clamps of cm size and larger that would act as subsurface scatterers; it is suggested that Stealth had its origin in the activity of Tharsis volcanoes during the Late Amazonian period.
