The HIPPARCOS mission has collected the presently most precise data on stellar positions, distances, and peculiar motions. Therefore, the HIPPARCOS observations will provide a much more sophisticated insight into the evolution of the solar vicinity in the context of the global galaxy evolution. Here we will elaborate peculiar observational signatures of different evolutionary processes and their discrepancies. First results of the HIPPARCOS data will be interpreted particularly with respect to the chemical and dynamical evolution of the Milky Way disk. We will compare them with chemo-dynamical models of the disk and additional evolutionary effects. We also address questions for the datation of star-formation episodes, for kinematical hints for star-forming sites, and furthermore for dynamical events in the disk.
