The solar eclipse observed by Clavius in A.D. 1567.
Abstract
The careful description of the solar eclipse of A.D. 1567 by Clavius is used to derive limits to the Earth's rotational clock error ({DELTA}T) of between 145 and 165 sec at this date. This result provides an important link between the {DELTA}T curve as deduced from ancient and medieval eclipse observations and that obtained from telescopic data.
