Large scale chaos and the spacing of the inner planets.
Abstract
Using extensive integrations of the Solar System equations over Gyr time scales, it is shown that the spacing of the inner planets could result from the presence of large scale chaos in their orbits, the wanderings of which are only limited by some quasi conservation of their angular momentum deficit (AMD), i.e. the part of their angular momentum resulting from non-circular and non planar motion.
