The Research Potential of Advanced Small Telescopes

The research potential and the future of the Small Telescopes (STs) is investigated within the framework of the current progress in Astrophysics. A variety of self contained, front-line research or research supporting projects is proposed, the associated instrumentation is briefly analyzed and indicative references are given. It is shown that the research horizons of STs could fruitfully reach a time depth of a decade, provided that their potential is exploited in time. An extended upgrade initiative involving all available telescopes of Greece appears a matter of priority.
