Heavyion interactions in relativistic meanfield models
Abstract
The interaction potential between spherical nuclei and the elastic scattering cross section are calculated within relativistic meanfield (linear and nonlinear) models, using a generalized relativistic local density approximation. The nuclear densities are calculated selfconsistently from the solution of the relativistic meanfield equations. It is found that both the linear and nonlinear models predict the characteristic switchingover phenomenon of the heavyion nuclear potential, where the potential gets attraction with increasing energy up to some value where it reverses this behaviour. The nonlinear NLC model predicts a deeper potential than the linear LW model. The elastic scattering cross section calculated within the nonlinear NLC model is in better agreement with experiments than that calculated within the linear LW model.
