Unstable standing shock waves in general relativistic accretion flows
Abstract
This paper deals with a stability analysis of an adiabatic accretion flow with a standing shock wave in a general relativistic gravitational field. Sufficient conditions for instability are analytically derived, and it is shown that, as was proved in non-relativistic cases by the author, post-shock acceleration of the flow is closely related to the occurrence of the instability also in the general relativistic regime.
