Control and Spectroscopy of Voltage-Dependent Biomolecules by Nonequilibrium Kinetic Focusing
Abstract
We show that voltage-sensitive macromolecules can, by the application of the right types of time varying fields, be focused with great probability into a desired kinetic substate. As an illustration we consider an eight-state model of the Shaker K^+ channel driven by dichotomous voltage fluctuations. This techniques may provide a powerful new tool for the study of ion channel, and other important voltage-dependent biomolecules.
