Electronic stopping of low- and intermediate-energy protons in solids
Abstract
We calculate the electronic stopping cross section of protons in solids using the linear-response dielectric theory, the semiclassical approximation, and the local-electron-density approximation. By introducing a local-field correction function in the dielectric function, the correlation and exchange interaction of the electron gas in solids has been taken into consideration. The calculation results are compared with experimental data, empirical results, and other previous theoretical results.
