Spectrometric gamma logging in mineral deposits
Abstract
This paper describes the technology of spectrometric γ-ray logging (SGL) of the natural radioactive elements, the method of logging and of data interpretation used for mineral exploration and for the solution of geological and technological problems. The system of spectrometric γ-ray logging is based on a geological and physico-mathematical model that adequately represents conditions in boreholes; a unified metrological basis and standardized methods of recording results—and algorithms for their interpretation. The system proposed uses both the theory and practice of spectrometric γ-ray logging for deposits of rare earth metals and of phosphorite, bauxite, potassium salts, molybdenum and gold.
