Photofragmentation of molecular oxygen on Si(1 1 1)7 × 7
Abstract
Photofragmentation of molecular oxygen chemisorbed at room temperature on Si(111)7 × 7 is studied by monitoring the O + photodesorption in the 95-120 eV excitation energy range. By combining photoemission and photodesorption experiments, O + desorbed ions are demonstrated to be issued from a specific adsorption site of O 2 on Si(111)7 × 7. Furthermore the photofragmentation is shown to be resonant at 108 eV due to {O2}/{Si(2p → 3σ u) } electronic excitation.
