A magnetic field upper limit for the circumnuclear ring in the Galactic Centre
Abstract
The Zeeman effect has been used to derive an upper limit of 0.5 mG for the average magnetic field over regions of the circumnuclear disc in the Galactic Centre. The result is based on HI absorption observations made with the VLA in DnC. This low upper limit does not contradict the previous detections of Schwarz & Lasenby and Killeen et al. if field reversals occur within the 45x45 arcsec^2 regions over which we averaged.
