A Comparison of Thermal Comptonization Models
Abstract
We compare our analytic and Monte Carlo relativistic thermal models for photon Comptonization with previous thermal models in the literature. We show that the rejection of a pure thermal model for interpreting the OSSE-Ginga data "at the likelihood of ∼95%,, is the result of inaccuracy of the numerical thermal model used. Therefore, there is no need for a hybrid nonthermal/thermal model for the interpretation of these data.
