The X-ray properties of AM Canum Venaticorum.
Abstract
Archival X-ray observations of AM CVn are analysed and the obtained results are presented. Its once reported Ariel V hard X-ray emission detection is discarded in the light of the new data. In particular, soft X-rays are unambiguously detected for the first time by the ROSAT Satellite. X-ray luminosities of the order of only 10^29^erg/s are derived, posing some constraints on the possible nature of AM CVn. The implications following our analysis are discussed in the cataclysmic variables' context.
