A model for galaxy formation in CDM cosmology.
Abstract
The authors develop a model to account for the formation of galaxies in a standard biased Cold Dark Matter cosmogony. Galactic halos are identified at different stages of the simulation using an algorithm based on maximal local densities. The model assumes a star formation rate proportional to a power of the local gas density. The evolution of the luminosities in different bands associated with each particle is computed following theoretical evolutionary tracks. For each halo the authors analyze the dynamical evolution of several properties such as colors, circular velocities, mass to light ratios, and their environmental dependencies.
