Arbitrary antenna scattering matrix and the properties of corresponding antenna model
Abstract
For description of transmitting, receiving, and scattering properties of arbitrary antenna with N inputs and any radiators number the (N + 2) x (N + 2) scattering matrix is suggested to be used with one of the main blocks being the polarization 2 x 2 scattering matrix. Equations relating all the submatrices of the antenna Smatrix are derived and their physical meaning is given. Rigorous analytical formulas in the closed form are obtained for calculation of ultimately achievable minimum effective scattering crosssections of arbitrary antenna using its vector complex directional pattern.
