O the Properties of Diffractive Events in Deep Inelastic Scattering
Abstract
This analysis studies the properties of diffractive deep inelastic scattering (DIS) events produced in e-p interactions at HERA and observed in the ZEUS detector. These events are characterized by a rapidity gap, explained in terms of pomeron exchange, between the outgoing proton system and the remaining hadronic system. Using multiple fits techniques this analysis evaluates the fraction of diffractive events in the DIS sample for both for the total sample and in x_{Bj} {-}Q^2 bins. Events distributions in inclusive variables are studied and comparisons with different theoretical models are presented.
