Performance Parameters of a Dual-Energy Kinestatic Charge Detector
Abstract
Development of a kinestatic charge detector (KCD) for dual energy radiography is discussed. This detector consists of a front segment, inactive middle segment and a back segment. The front segment produces a digital low energy image and the back segment produces a digital high energy image. A weighted substraction of the two images gives either a bone image or a tissue image. Several dual energy calibration methods are applied to simulated and experimental data and accuracies of these methods are compared. The front and the back detector segment modulation transfer functions, Wiener spectra and detective quantum efficiencies are measured for different configurations of the detector.
