Twostage solution for framed tube buildings
Abstract
A twostage solution procedure is presented for the lateral load analysis of framed tubes. In the first stage dual shape functions and Gauss elimination solution are used to obtain an approximate solution. In the second stage a GaussSeidel iterative solution is used to obtain an accurate solution. The proposed twostage solution procedure only requires a small fraction of the CPU time needed in the standard Gauss elimination solution. Computer storage locations required are also smaller than those in the standard solution. With the use of the twostage solution procedure analysis of framed tubes of practical sizes can be carried out on PCs.
