LEDA. The Lyon-Meudon Extragalactic Database for the DENIS Project
Abstract
In 1983, a general extragalactic database, The Lyon-Meudon Extragalactic Database (LEDA), was created at the Observatoire de Lyon. It has been continuously updated and improved. The management of Deep Near-Infrared Survey (DENIS) extragalactic data could benefit from our experience. From LEDA it is possible to extract all available parameters of astrophical interest for more than 90,000 galaxies. The raw measurements, mean homogenized parameters, model dependent parameters, and 2 D information found in LEDA are explained as well as the available database tools.
