About the simulation of nonequilibrium phenomena and air radiation at hypersonic speeds in ballistic experiments.
Abstract
Calculations of nonequilibrium concentrations, temperature and radiation emissivity in mixtures of air and xenon for hypervelocity models in ballistic experimental conditions are presented. The thermal and chemiluminescent radiation in the trail are compared and it is shown that the second radiation is greater than the first. Good agreement is achieved between the calculated value of the chemiluminescent radiation and the measured one in ballistic experiments for Mach numbers M = 10 - 16. These calculations and experimental methods could be applied to the investigation of meteor trails.
