Imaging Spectroscopy of Galaxies in the Fields of Five BL Lacertae Objects
Abstract
The environments of five BL Lac objects are investigated by imaging the fields of about 8 arcmin around the sources, and by obtaining spectra of of some galaxies in the neighborhoods. In three, and possibly four, cases out of five there are one to two galaxies sharing the same redshift as the BL Lac. The environments are similar to Abell clusters of richness class 0. Comparison with the environments of F-R I and II radio galaxies is briefly discussed.
