Evolutionary status of U Sagittae.
Abstract
Using the available observational facts, the origin and evolution of the close binary system U Sge is discussed. From a general network of series of medium mass close binary evolution, we derive the restrictions on masses and period. Detailed models are calculated within the derived ranges, giving as most likely initial parameters 3.27 solar mass + 3.25 solar mass and Pi = 1.56d. The interactive evolution up to the present stage is non-conservative. We also discuss the information from the observed surface abundances and find them too inaccurate to exclude models.
