The K- and L-shell absorption spectra of C IV.

The absorption spectra of the Li-like C IV ion have been studied in the soft X-ray spectral range. Both the K-shell and the L-shell spectra have been obtained with the two laser-produced plasmas technique. The K-shell spectrum has been observed between 25-45 Å. The discrete transitions, corresponding to jumps of the 1s inner electron, as well as the photoionization continuous spectrum have been observed. The L-shell spectrum appears at longer wavelengths and the transitions of the optical 2s electron have been observed between 200-250 Å.
